INDEGENOUS peoples
Long before Europeans would settle the area known to us today as Pennsylvania. Thousands of indigenous people inhabited this land. These included the Iroquois, Munseem Delaware, Lenape Delaware, Erie, Shawnee, and Susquehannock.
The very first people to call Pennsylvania home came around the end of the last Ice Age. Archeologists refer to them as Paleo-Indians, they were nomadic hunter-gatherers who lived in small kinship-based bands.
